Peer Body Project (India)

An Evidence-Based Eating Disorder Prevention Program

for Adolescent Girls and Young Women

In our society, the pressure to look a “certain way” can be overwhelming. From the long-standing obsession with fair skin to the rigid “thin” beauty standards seen on every screen, our girls are growing up in a culture that constantly critiques their appearance.

This environment often pushes young women towards dangerous shortcuts, extreme crash dieting, harmful exercise routines, and risky eating habits that put their current and future health at serious risk.

To counter these pressures, we need more than just advice; we need a proven way to resist them. This is why I have brought the Peer Body Project to India. Developed and evaluated by Dr. Eric Stice and his colleagues at Stanford University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the Oregon Research Institute, USA, it is the world’s most heavily researched program for body image.

As Program Director, I am honored to lead this initiative here. My goal is to help the next generation reclaim their relationship with their bodies and food.
